Lead the Rebels or the Empire in icy miniature battles on Hoth: strategic, tactical and iconic Star Wars action!
Pull on your boots, the snow is trembling under the marching feet of the future…
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the icy calm of the planet Hoth was rudely shattered by the steel threat of the Galactic fleet. The Rebels are dug into their trenches, the AT-ATs are closing in with thundering force, and you? You are at the helm of a decisive moment in the history of the star war.
Miniature warfare on frozen ground
Star Wars: Battle of Hoth is a fast-paced tactical miniatures game based on one of the most legendary film battles ever. Built on the popular Commands & Colors system (known from Memoir ’44), you play as the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance and deploy your troops across 17 freezing cold scenarios.
Each turn you activate specific units with Command cards, try to outsmart your opponent and carry out targeted attacks. But even the best plan can fall apart under the dice: as always, the Force has a will of its own.
Famous faces, decisive influence
Would you rather not fight alone? Hero cards bring six iconic characters to the battlefield. Let Leia Organa inspire your rebel troops or send General Veers out to lead your AT-ATs to the front. These heroes are not bit parts: they bend the game in your favour.
Campaign mode: every choice counts
Fancy more depth? Dive into a dynamic campaign, where your victories and losses shape the story. Every decision has consequences, every step brings risk and reward. Here you do not play separate games, you weave a story full of strategy, sacrifice and hope.
For fans and tactical masters alike
With detailed miniatures, a familiar film setting and exciting game mechanisms, Battle of Hoth feels like a tribute to the saga and a new milestone in tactical gaming fun. Whether you relive the classic battle or give the story your own twist: this is Star Wars on the table just as you always wanted it.
Launch the attack. Or hold the line. But know this: history turns the snow red.

The box holds one scenario that needs two copies, and players feel differently about it. Some say such a big battle feels wonderfully epic and they ordered a second copy right away, while others find that a lot for just one scenario. A nice middle ground players mention: let a friend buy the second copy and play it together.
Those low scores are rare: out of more than 600 ratings only four people gave a 1, while most players sit around 8 or 9. The outliers mostly come from frustration, for example about the dice or about extra components that are only available as promos. Players experience the luck differently: some feel battles depend too much on the rolls, others notice that experience and tactics do make the difference over time.
Players who have tried it are enthusiastic: with two copies you play on a double board, you get more room to manoeuvre, and a game takes about an hour instead of half an hour. One thing to keep in mind: there is only one official Epic scenario in the box, so for more variety you rely on fan-made scenarios, and not everyone enjoys that.
Players point out that this game belongs to the Commands & Colors family, so Memoir '44, Commands & Colors: Ancients, Napoleonics, Medieval, Samurai Battles or Battle Cry are natural next steps. If you want something a bit heavier, they mention Combat Commander, and the Undaunted series comes up as having a similar vibe and playing time.
Yes, plenty of players enjoy this one on their own and simply run both sides of the table. Others use handy helpers, like the "Power of Three" variant or the Commands & Colors solo system, where you draw the opponent's cards face down and use a die.
There is no official solo mode in the box, and players do not expect one either. Still, plenty of people play these Command & Colors games alone, for example with designer Richard Borg's Power of Three solo rules or with solo variants from Memoir '44. Players say those transfer nicely to Hoth.
