Discover a whole planet in this cooperative adventure!
Vantage is an open-world board game for 1 to 6 players by designer Jamey Stegmaier. Together you set foot on an unknown planet, but each of you starts in a different part of the world. With almost 800 locations and more than 900 cards to discover, every game feels like a brand new adventure.
The adventure begins when your spaceship crashes. Far apart from each other, you discover the planet from your own unique, personal point of view. You can talk with the other players, but only you see what happens in your spot. Freedom is central: you choose how you explore the planet, which challenges you take on and how you define success. You can win by completing missions, by reaching a personal destiny, or by combining both for an epic victory.
Vantage is not a campaign game and is fully playable on its own. Everything is in one box, including hundreds of cards, storybooks and specially designed dice. No expansions are needed, only a few optional accessories such as metal coins.

Storybooks
LOOK 145: The ability you gain should be 1483 (not 1482).
LOOK 303: Change the entire result to “As you trace the lines on the stone, three distinctly colored icons emerge. You may choose to focus on one of the three. If you choose the green icon, gain spell 1236. If you choose the pink icon, gain spell 1237. If you choose the blue icon, gain spell 1238.”
ENGAGE 579: In the first bullet point, 410 should be 499.
TAKE 123: This should give you card 1472, not 1480.
OVERPOWER 530: The opponent’s card should not be 1530; it should be 1521.
OVERPOWER 558: This should have you exit to 271, not 215.
Cards
There are two cards missing boost outputs when you place the die on the MOVE die slot (card 957) and the OVERPOWER die slot (card 962).
Card 1013’s MOVE-ride action should be a 1 boost power instead (it isn’t an action).
On location 104, the basket has 6 fruits (it’s obscured by the text box).

Players say the mistakes are tiny: about six cards out of more than 1300, and they don't spoil the fun. Some just cover them with a sticker or a sticky flag and keep playing, and the designer wants to offer replacement cards for next to nothing. So most people feel there's no reason to wait.
Players say Vantage is all about discovery: you travel across a strange planet, meet its beings, read short pieces of story and solve puzzles. If you enjoy that choose-your-own-adventure feel and figuring things out yourself, they say you're in the right place. If that's not your thing, they warn the game probably won't grab you.
It is not officially a roleplaying game, but many players say it comes very close: you fill the gaps in the story with your own imagination and easily slip into your character. Others point out that every choice is already printed on the cards, so it feels more like a point-and-click adventure than a true pen-and-paper session. Solo, that combination works surprisingly well for a lot of people.
With a full group everyone basically plays their own adventure side by side, while you talk about what you see and discover. Players say it runs smoothly even with six, also with people who are new to board games. But they add: if you are not interested in the others' stories, waiting for your turn can feel long.
Yes, every box comes with its own number, and players love sharing theirs online. Some really dig into it and check whether their number is prime or a palindrome in binary. Others find nothing special about their number, but are simply happy their copy arrived.
