Pinatas is all about timing. At first glance this card game by the well-known designer Reiner Knizia looks simple, but it keeps you on your toes. You try to take tricks as late as possible, because whoever wins three is out for the rest of the round. That makes every decision exciting. Do you go for the trick now, or do you hold back a little longer? The clever part is the way points are counted. Your score depends on the total number of tricks everyone wins together. So you keep a constant eye on the other players, and the mood at the table changes from moment to moment. Waiting calmly and then striking at just the right time, that is where the fun lies. Pinatas is for 2 to 5 players and a game takes about 40 minutes. The clear rules let you jump right in, whether you are a seasoned player or just starting out.
