Publisher: Decision Games (I)
December 1944, the Ardennes. The German attack rolls straight over the American lines, but the small town of Bastogne becomes the heart of the whole battle. The roads that meet there are far too important to give up. In Bastogne: A Desperate Defense you stand on exactly that spot: surrounded, outnumbered and determined to hold your ground. You decide whether the line breaks or holds. This game is all about choices under pressure. With the Fire & Movement system you can give your units extra support during the fighting, from anti-tank guns to mortars. Will you send a reconnaissance battalion with artillery behind it towards a hamlet held by enemy paratroopers? Fine, but watch out: that support is limited. Once the attack is under way, your own unit may come under fire. Every move asks you to think and to dare. The combat feels real, with losses on both sides and units that grow exhausted step by step. Just like it went at Bastogne back then. Play it head to head with two players in a fierce struggle, or solo if you want to work through the situation at your own pace. An evening of tension, tactics and living through one of the most famous battles of the war.
