Assault on Gallipoli: The ANZAC Landing Campaign 1915 takes you to one of the toughest campaigns of the First World War. This is a strategic wargame for two players in which you relive the key battles of the Gallipoli campaign of 1915. One player leads the Australian, New Zealand and British troops, the other takes command of the Ottoman armies. Who will hold out on the narrow strips of land at ANZAC Cove? Each turn stands for one day. Your units are battalions, companies and even single ships. In turn you activate groups of units: move, fire or dig a trench. After that you flip them to their exhausted side, because after a day full of fighting everyone is tired. At the start of the next day they are fresh again and ready for new plans. That way you really feel how hard it was to make progress on this rough terrain. With a playing time of around five hours, this is a game for enthusiasts who want to take their time. You can play it with two players, but there is also a solo mode. The game was created by Kieran Oakley and Russell Lowke, with atmospheric illustrations by Jose Ramon Faura. For anyone who loves history and likes to dive deep into a real battle, this is an impressive experience to share.
