September 1944. The Allies want to find a short route to bypass the German defences and reach the heart of Germany. British, American and Polish paratroopers are given the task of capturing important bridges in the Netherlands. The bridge at Arnhem is the farthest away of them all. But something goes badly wrong: the strength of the German troops has been seriously underestimated. When the paras land, they come down right in the middle of an SS panzer division. In Arnhem: The Farthest Bridge you replay this history, and you decide how it ends. This game is all about choices and timing. With the Fire & Movement system you can reinforce your units during your turn with outside support. Think of mortars or mobile artillery putting the enemy under fire. Say you send a reconnaissance battalion with tanks against an enemy battalion defending a landing zone. At exactly that moment enemy fighter planes appear. You need more support, but it is not unlimited. Every move calls for thought. Arnhem: The Farthest Bridge is a meaty game for one or two players aged 12 and up. Expect about two hours of manoeuvring, using firepower and sharing out your resources wisely. Losses are part of it, just as in the real battle. A game for anyone who loves history and a good challenge at the table.
