Four thousand years ago, the first stone of the temple of Amun-Ra was laid on the banks of the Nile. Century after century, this place grew into one of the most impressive sites the world has ever seen. In Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun you step into the role of a pharaoh and build this sacred complex yourself, in honour of gods such as Horus, Ra and Osiris. In the middle of the board stands a large obelisk that casts its shadow over the six temple sections. As a result, some areas lie in the sun, others in the shade and others again in the dark. And watch out: the sun moves along, so what is in the light now will soon fall into shadow. You choose dice and take actions that match the colour, the value and the area the die came from. Forbidden dice you leave alone, but with the rest you build workshops, statues and pillars, and take good care of your people. It is all about balance. Take too many tainted dice and you lose your favourable spot in the turn order. Produce more than you can handle and you slide into greed. Twice during the game the balance is assessed and you earn points for everything you have put in place. A meaty game for players who like to sit at the table for a while and puzzle together over the finest structure on the Nile.
