Stringamajig

Forget pencil and paper. In Stringamajig you draw with a piece of string. You lay it on the table, bend it into shape and bring it to life, while the rest of the group tries to guess what you are showing. Strumming a guitar, waving the tentacles of a squid or spinning a helicopter rotor: anything goes, as long as you make no sound and part of the string keeps touching the table. Each player gets sixty seconds. You take a card, pick a word and off you go. Everyone shouts out what they think it is. If someone guesses correctly, you move straight on to the next word. That way you try to get through as many words as you can in a short time. Every word that is guessed correctly earns you a point, and whoever shouts the answer scores one too. There are tricky challenge cards that count double. Draw in the air together with another player, do it with your eyes closed, or watch out for the forbidden word that can cost you a card. With four to ten players and games of around twenty minutes, Stringamajig is exactly the game you reach for when the table is ready for a laugh.
