Ofrenda

Around the Mexican Day of the Dead, you build a colourful altar in Ofrenda to honour your loved ones. You collect portraits of your late family members, place candles and orange flowers to guide their spirits, and set out the things they used to love. Slowly a warm and lively altar takes shape on your player board. The trick is in how you place the cards. Every family member has their own wishes. One wants to sit next to a favourite cousin, another wants to be far away from the food he never liked. So you lay down the portraits with care and try to keep everyone happy. But the fuller your altar gets, the harder that becomes. Giving everyone a spot that makes them happy, that is the real challenge. Ofrenda plays with 1 to 4 players and a game takes about an hour. It is a game that radiates calm and colour, while still offering enough puzzling to keep you sharp. A lovely choice for an evening when you want to put something warm and special on the table together.
