Picture this: you and your opponent lean over a board full of mirrored pieces. Every move counts, because at the end of your turn you fire a real laser beam. The beam bounces off the mirrors on the pieces and finds its way across the board. If it hits a piece on the wrong side, that piece is gone. Laser Chess combines the tension of classic chess with something you have never done before: working out exactly where a beam of light will go. On your turn you move a piece, rotate it a quarter turn, or aim your laser again. Some pieces have two mirrors, others have one or none. That means the path of your beam changes every turn. Your defenders can protect your king, but only from the right angle. Turn one the wrong way and you may blast your own piece to bits. Whoever hits the other player's king first wins the game. This is a game for two, and at the table you both learn to think ahead better and better. A game takes about half an hour and works from around age eight. Perfect for an evening when the two of you just cannot resist a bit of puzzling and planning.
