Publisher: Facade Games
The year is 1947 and you work in the booming film world of Hollywood. But there is a rumour going around: communists are said to be hiding among the staff of your studio. They are secretly trying to work 'un-American' messages and images into the films. Can you unmask them before the studio has to close its doors? Or will you be the one under suspicion and banned from the industry? Everyone secretly plays a role: Patriot, Communist or Rising Star. Each round you have your own job, from screenwriter to director, actor or editor. That job determines what kind of film gets made, which cards you hold and who gets extra information. Whoever has stars on the dice may add a card to the film. After that the cards are shuffled, one disappears and the rest are revealed. The team with the most symbols wins the round. Four winning rounds and victory is yours. Hollywood 1947 is all about talking, doubting and keeping an eye on each other. You never show who you really are, but you can say whatever you like about the cards in the film. Lying is allowed, and sometimes it is even necessary. Most players get the hang of it after a few minutes, and then the real work begins: making films and working out who you can trust. This is the fifth stand-alone game in the Dark Cities series by Facade Games.
