When the Roman emperor Hadrian Augustus visited the north of Britannia in 122 AD, he witnessed the aftermath of the war between his legions and the wild Picts. In a show of Roman power, he ordered the building of a wall that would separate the Pictish tribes from the rest of Roman Britain. The wall was grand in its design and stretched 80 Roman miles, from coast to coast.

About the game

In Hadrian's Wall, players take on the role of a Roman general, tasked with building a milecastle and the wall next to it. Over 6 years (rounds), players build up their fort and wall, man the defences and attract citizens by constructing services and providing entertainment, all while defending the honour of the Roman Empire against the warring Picts. The player who can gather the most renown, piety, valour and discipline, while avoiding disdain, will prove to the emperor that they are the model Roman citizen and be crowned Legatus Legionis!
