Publisher: Decision Games (I)
October 1973, the Golan Heights. Two Israeli brigades face five Syrian divisions. The odds are all wrong, and still you have to defend those strategic hills. In Golan: The Last Syrian Offensive you take command of one of the two armies and relive one of the fiercest battles of the Yom Kippur War. Play the Syrians and you push forward with everything you have. Choose Israel and you hold the line until the reservists and the air force arrive. The game is about making choices with what you have. Through the Fire & Movement system you can back up your units with supporting fire: artillery, air strikes, anything that helps break an enemy position. But watch out, because the Syrians have mobile anti-aircraft missiles. Send an air strike at a fort and it may suddenly come under fire itself. Every move asks you to weigh things up: where do you commit your resources, and what do you leave alone? Golan: The Last Syrian Offensive is a demanding two-player wargame. Units can take losses and slowly wear down, exactly as it happened in reality. You win through good manoeuvring, well-aimed firepower and careful use of your troops. A game for players who like depth and want to replay a piece of history together.
