Publisher: Decision Games (I)
It is spring 1917. British troops have pushed the Ottoman Turks back to a line at Gaza. Whoever breaks through that line opens the road to Jerusalem and then on to Damascus. A first attack in March ground to a halt, but after a month of resupply and bringing up artillery the British are ready to try again. On 17 April they go in. In Gaza 1917: Gateway to Jerusalem you are in charge of this thrilling battle. The game runs on the Fire & Movement system, which captures the real fighting of that period very well. Motorised and well-trained units have a clear advantage. Once the fighting begins, you can back up your troops with support from the air and on the ground, from mortars and guns to light combat aircraft and heavy bombers. An attack that looks safe can fall apart at the last moment under the defender's fire. And even a small unit suddenly gains real punch with a heavy bombardment behind it. The British have numbers, quality and firepower on their side. The Ottomans have strong positions, better leadership and time. Whoever plays their strengths best and dares to seize chances comes out on top. Play it head to head with two players or dive in solo. Expect about an hour and a half of tension at the table.
