Publisher: Decision Games (I)
June 1862, Virginia. The Union troops are trying to retreat, but General Robert E. Lee senses his chance. On the clogged roads between White Oak Swamp and the hamlet of Glendale, he wants to crush the Federal army completely. Almost every great name of the South stands at his side, together some 45,000 men. Facing them, about 40,000 Union soldiers grow ever more scattered as they try to reach the James River. In Frayser's Farm you replay that chaotic day, with every chance that was taken and every chance that was lost. The game runs on the brand new Musket & Saber Combat System. That keeps the fighting clear, yet true to how battle really unfolded during the American Civil War. Units are worn down and flee, attackers give chase and luck can turn in an instant. Your cavalry tears open enemy lines and hunts down fleeing troops, while you need to keep your reserves ready to plug gaps or secure your withdrawal. Victory depends on where you place your men, how you manoeuvre and where you concentrate your firepower. Leaders speed up the action and make you feel how important their presence on the battlefield was. And do not forget your supply lines, because without a connection even the strongest army runs into trouble. Play solo or with two players and you will be an hour deep into history in no time.
