Out on the water, every trick is a catch. In Fishing you try to win as many tricks as possible over eight rounds, because every card you catch is worth a point. The clever part is in the cards themselves: what you catch this round is what you use in the next round. Didn't catch enough to fill your hand? Then you fish new cards from the ocean pile, and fresh surprises keep surfacing there for everyone to fight over. Trick-taking works the way you know it: you follow the colour that is led and the highest card wins. But the ocean keeps moving. In waves, stronger cards join in, a green trump colour that runs up to 16, and zero cards that let you sneakily pinch a card from the trick. And then there are the buoy cards with their own powers. You may always play those, no matter what else is in your hand. With a buoy you steal the lead, decide which colour has to open the next trick, or force others to pass cards or lose points. You can even rake in all the cards from a trick and haul in a big fish for the round after. After eight rounds everyone counts their caught cards. Whoever has the most points is the proud winner of the day.
