Fire & Stone: Siege of Vienna 1683

Vienna, 1683. A huge army of a hundred thousand Ottomans sets up camp around the city. Inside the walls, a small group of defenders stands ready: soldiers, city guards and ordinary citizens who want to protect their homes. The besiegers dig their way ever closer to the fortifications. The defenders cling to one hope, namely that help will arrive in time. For both sides, everything revolves around the clock that keeps on ticking. In Fire & Stone: Siege of Vienna 1683 you step into the shoes of one of the two sides. Each player uses their own set of cards, so you both experience completely different things at the table. One launches attacks on heavily guarded walls and digs tunnels packed with explosives. The other makes desperate sorties to slow the enemy down. And with the right event at the right moment, you can turn the whole course of the battle around. This game is made entirely for two players and takes about ninety minutes. The box also includes background stories about the siege and about the way people conducted sieges in the seventeenth century. You don't need that knowledge to play, but it does make the atmosphere at the table extra rich.
