Cuba: The Splendid Little War

Cuba: The Splendid Little War takes you back to the end of the nineteenth century, right into the last war of independence between Cuba and Spain. This two-player game puts you head to head. One of you leads the Spanish colonial troops and fights to hold on to the island. The other commands the Cuban rebels, who give everything for their freedom. Every choice counts, and you both fight over the same ground. The game is about the uprising and the ways to put it down. You divide your resources, plan your moves and try to stay one step ahead of your opponent. Action cards bring surprises: disease, ambushes, attacks and the shifting reactions of the American press and government. Radio and aeroplanes do not exist yet, so newspapers and telegraphs decide who controls the news. As the Spanish player, can you hold on to power, keep the economy running and keep America at a distance? Or will you seize the chance as the Cuban player to free the island and thwart the annexation plans of the United States? Expect a solid evening together, because a game takes about two hours and is full of exciting decisions.
