May 1942, somewhere in the desert of Libya. The British have dug in firmly along a long line, but General Rommel goes for a bold move. Instead of attacking head on, he leads his Afrikakorps even deeper into the desert, around the defences. What follows is one of the biggest tank battles of the desert war, on a bare stretch of ground that earned the nickname "the cauldron". In Cauldron: Battle for Gazala you step into the shoes of one of these commanders and try to turn the battle your way. The game is built around the Fire & Movement combat system. With it you can boost your units during the fight with supporting fire, from mortars to howitzers. A small reconnaissance battalion can, for example, storm an enemy position with the help of heavy mortars. But watch out: while you attack, the enemy artillery may suddenly open fire on you. You need more support to break through, but your resources are limited. Every choice counts. The fighting feels raw and merciless, just like the real battle in North Africa. Units take losses and the pressure stays on until the very end. Whoever wins does so through good moves, firepower and spending resources wisely. Whether you play solo or against someone else, in about an hour you experience an exciting historical battle at your own table.
