Cat Between Us

Do you understand what the cat wants? In Cat Between Us every round comes down to one question: how close do you dare to get to the cat without going over? Go too far and you come away empty-handed. Play it too safe and someone else snatches the win from under your nose. That tension turns every turn into a little adventure at the table. Each round you place cards under six objects on the table. Together they decide how much each object is worth, and you all secretly nudge those values a little. Bluffing is allowed, counting helps, and sometimes you keep a card nicely to yourself. At the end you work out where your pawn ends up on the track. Whoever finishes closest to the cat without going over wins the round. Several players can win at the same time, so nobody has a reason to cheat. There is a funny catch in this game: every time you win, you get an extra card in hand. That makes your next victory harder. Players who are behind keep getting a new chance, and that keeps the tension alive until the end. The first to win three rounds takes the game. Great for two to six players aged eight and up, with games of about forty minutes.
