During a raging thunderstorm, at the stroke of midnight, a chilling scream rings out. The townsfolk rush to investigate and find the town storyteller murdered, his body impaled on the hands of the clocktower, his blood dripping onto the cobblestones below. A demon is on the loose, killing by night and disguised in human form by day. Some townsfolk hold pieces of information. Others have abilities that fight evil or protect the innocent. But the demon and his evil minions spread lies to sow confusion and stir up suspicion. Will the good townsfolk piece the puzzle together in time to execute the true demon and save themselves? Or will evil sweep over this once peaceful village?
Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game for 5 to 20 players in opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who guides the action and makes crucial decisions. The goal of the game is to successfully mislead and execute the demons before they outnumber the townsfolk.
During a 'day' phase, players socialise openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, ending in the execution of a player if a majority suspects them of being evil. During a 'night' phase, players close their eyes and are woken one by one by the Storyteller to gather information, cause mischief or kill.
The Storyteller uses the game's intricate pieces to guide each game, so everyone else can play freely without a table or board. Players stay in the middle of the action until the very end, even if their characters are killed, haunting Ravenswood Bluff as ghosts who try to win from beyond the grave.
If you arrive late to a game, you can join after it has started as a powerful Traveller character with unusual talents and questionable loyalties. Every character has its own special ability, and no two players in a game are ever the same character
