Picture this: you all stare at the cards together, nobody is really allowed to discuss anything, and yet you have to make the right choice at exactly the right moment. That is the feeling of Beasts. This cooperative card game revolves around one shared goal: together, push a three-digit number higher and higher. On your turn you play all the cards of one colour, and slowly but surely you climb upwards. Sounds simple, but the tension lies in the teamwork. And then the Beast cards appear. They throw a spanner in the works by blocking certain cards, forcing you to change your plan in a flash. Because you may only communicate in very limited ways, sensing what your fellow players are up to is at least as important as your own cards. One wrong moment and it all falls apart. Timed just right and you cheer together. Beasts is set up in no time and started all over again after half an hour. For 2 to 5 players aged 12 and up, with a difficulty level you can adjust yourself. Take it easy with friends, or go for a solid challenge for seasoned teams? Both are possible. Fans of The Mind and The Game will feel right at home here.
