Publisher: Decision Games (I)
It is the summer of 1191. Richard the Lionheart marches south along the coast with his crusaders, heading for Jerusalem. Saladin is waiting for his chance to strike, just as he did four years earlier. At Arsuf, on the way to the ruined city of Jaffa, the two armies clash. In Arsuf: Lionheart vs. Saladin you step into the shoes of one of these two commanders and decide how the battle unfolds. This is a game for two players in which two very different armies meet. On one side the nimble Arab archers, fast and hard to pin down. On the other side the heavy crusaders and the pride of European knighthood. Whoever plays their own strengths best and finds the weak spots of the opponent will come out on top. Arsuf: Lionheart vs. Saladin uses the Battles of the Medieval World system. The fighting revolves around masses of heavy cavalry and tight lines of well-armed soldiers, while archers on foot and on horseback swarm around them. The battle stays close and merciless until the courage of one side breaks. As soon as a line gives way, you must press on without mercy so your opponent gets no chance to recover.
