Publisher: Simulation Design
Step back in time to the American Civil War. In 1862 you refight four major battles from 1862: Antietam, Seven Pines, Murfreesboro and Fort Donelson. This is the first game in the "Battles and Leaders" series from Simulation Design, and the rules have deliberately been kept clear and simple. That means you are playing quickly and can finish a complete battle within three hours. The game revolves around two things that make the difference on the battlefield: leading your troops and keeping their morale up. That makes every choice exciting. Do you go on the attack, or keep your men together? Each battle has its own game board, and together with the 400 colourful counters you build your own version of history. With a difficulty rating of 4 out of 10, 1862 is very manageable, even if you do not put a wargame on the table every week. Would you rather play on your own? That works just fine too. So whether alone or against an opponent, you get to experience a piece of history that really comes to life.
