A spaceship crashes down in the woods of Blackwood Grove. Only a child sees it happen. Around the ship hangs a force field that lets some objects through and bounces others right back. Why is one object allowed through and another not? The visitor inside the ship knows the secret and hopes the child will work out the rule. The agents only want to get hold of the ship and study the visitor. In Visitor in Blackwood Grove you do not all play the same way. One player is the visitor and invents a secret rule, for example "anything containing metal". That rule decides which objects may pass through the force field. The other players try to find out what the rule is by testing objects and watching closely what happens. The agents search in their own way, while the child tries to predict and so wins the visitor's trust. The beauty lies in the balance. If the visitor makes the rule too easy, the agents will guess it first. If the rule is too hard, nobody will figure it out. Get it just right and the child discovers the rule in time, after which child and visitor win together. A game that makes you think and keeps everyone at the table watching and guessing.
