In the quiet English countryside, time seems to stand still. Villages lie scattered among the fields and nothing ever changes. Until you arrive, with a promise of progress and the puffing of steam. In Village Rails you lay railway lines through the landscape and connect village after village. You draw cards and place them carefully to build a network of tracks, stations and farms. You position your signals and switches with care, because every choice counts. The locals have plenty of wishes of their own and sometimes want to make the oddest journeys. It is up to you to keep them happy without running out of money. Again and again you have to weigh up what pays off most. This card game by Brett J. Gilbert and Matthew Dunstan is made for two to four players and takes about forty-five minutes. Perfect for an evening of puzzling and planning together, with tricky choices every turn.
