Tranquility The Ascent

In Tranquility The Ascent you climb a mountain together. Card by card you build a pyramid of numbers, from the wide base to the summit. Not a word is spoken, and yet you work closely together. Everyone feels the tension rise as you get closer to the mountain top. On your turn you place a card on the mountain or discard two. The cards have numbers from 1 to 12 and three kinds of landscape. Two identical landscapes may not lie next to each other, and you must hand in discard cards equal to the difference between two neighbouring cards. You build rows from left to right, and the numbers may go up, go down or stay the same. Can you finish the mountain and place the summit card? Then you all win together. If someone can no longer do anything, the whole group loses. The box holds three small expansions that you can add separately or together. In The Green Path you lay a continuous path from the bottom to the top. In The Panorama you take photos of certain runs of numbers. And with The Mountain Goats you drive mountain goats to the top, where the grass is greener. That way the game plays a little differently every time.
