High in the mountains, hidden above the Urubamba river, lies a place the Spanish will never find: the lost city of Machu Picchu. When the Inca empire fell, only a few princes managed to flee to this secret refuge. But beware. Is there a traitor among the princes, someone who wants to reveal where the city lies? In The Princes of Machu Picchu you play one of these Inca princes. Your workers grow maize, feed the llamas, plant coca and make ceramics and cloth. You try to win over priests of the Condor, priests of the Puma and Sun Maidens. The game can end in two ways: the Incas win if they activate all priests and maidens in time, or the Spanish win as soon as they discover Machu Picchu. If the Incas win, victory goes to the prince who made the finest offerings to the gods. If the Spanish win, the gold you collected counts most, although that is often not enough to win. You choose your actions by moving your prince across the map of the city. An adventurous, tense game for two to five players in which you need to keep a close eye on each other.
