On the edge of a fjord in northern Norway lies your small fishing village. For generations, people here lived off whatever the sea gave them. But the nineteenth century is drawing to a close and something new is in the air. Change, and above all opportunity. In Saltfjord you decide how your village grows. Will you build new houses and workshops, or send your boat out to sea to catch fish? Will you trade with your neighbours, or develop new techniques that make life a good deal easier? Every choice takes your village in a different direction, and that means no two games are the same. You play Saltfjord with two to four people, and the relaxed playing time of around ninety minutes gives you plenty of time to think through your plans. Would you rather play on your own? That works too, because there is an extensive solo mode. Suitable from fourteen years and up, and a real recommendation for anyone who enjoys building, planning and bringing a village to life together.
