Five in a row, that sounds simple. But in Pente, danger is always waiting. You take turns placing glass stones on the intersections of a large board, until someone has a row of five. The first player to get there wins. That is, if you are not intercepted along the way. Because that is where the tension lies. Leave two stones side by side and your opponent closes them in? Then you lose them. A calm build-up suddenly turns into an exciting fight for every spot on the board. You have to think ahead, but also keep a close eye on what the other player is planning.
