In Nightmare Productions you step into the shoes of a filmmaker who wants to make the scariest horror movies of the year. Across four rounds you bid on everything you need: creepy creatures, exciting locations, directors, conductors, guest stars and handy contractors. You place each tile on your own film strip, and once it is full, your production is ready for the silver screen. One movie calls for different ingredients than another, so you always have to look carefully at what you bid on. The heart of the game is in the bidding. Everyone can keep going higher, until only one winner is left. Whoever wins the auction pays with money, and that money is shared out among the other players. That way everything keeps moving around the table. So you have to think carefully about the right moment to strike, because you want to finish your movie without spending more than you have to. Each round there are also two horror conventions where you get to take something nice home for free. There is plenty to win: points for the first finished movies, for the finest productions and even for the best creatures. And yes, the very worst movie still scores something too.
