Mori

Mori turns the classic trick-taking game on its head in a surprising way. You play cards to win tricks, but the dice do something special: they break the familiar rule that you always have to follow the same colour. Suddenly you get just a bit more freedom, and that makes every turn exciting. Scoring happens in two layers. Good planning is rewarded, but playing too greedily often backfires. So you keep weighing things up: when do I take a risk, when do I wait a moment, and what are the others planning? Within twenty minutes you have played a sharp game that asks for attention and a feel for timing. The atmospheric illustrations take their inspiration from life and death, and give the whole game a lovely look of its own. Mori is a game for three to five players aged eleven and up, ideal for an evening when you want to puzzle together without it taking too long.
