Buying shares and laying track: in Mini Rails it all comes down to those two choices. It is a compact version of the well-known train games, but built so you are done within an hour. Just enough time for an adventurous evening at the table, without it taking up the whole evening. Each round you do two things. You buy shares in a railway company and you lay track. That is all, and that is exactly where the challenge lies. You take each action exactly once per round, and the company you pick decides who goes first in the next round. So you keep weighing up what you do now against what it will earn you later. Mini Rails plays with one to five players and is meant for ages thirteen and up. Whether you want to play a solo game or sit down with a group, everyone helps build the rail network and their own plan. A lovely game for anyone who likes making choices, but does not want to wait hours for it to finally be over.
