Martian Chess

Chess, but with a big twist. In Martian Chess, colour and ownership no longer work the way you are used to. Here the spot on the board decides whose piece it is. As soon as a piece crosses over to your side, it changes owner. That makes every move exciting and sometimes surprising. You play on a chessboard with pyramid-shaped pieces, and each piece has its own way of moving. You do not win by capturing one particular piece, but by collecting points. Even if you have almost nothing left on your part of the board at the end, you can still come out as the winner. That leads to lovely choices and plenty of puzzling at the table. With two, three or four players, Martian Chess is different every time. The game is quick to explain, and after a twenty-minute round you often want to play again right away. A nice challenge for anyone aged eight and up who likes tactics and surprising turns.
