Welcome to the city of Machi Koro, the Japanese dice game that is taking the world by storm. This is the Dutch-language edition.
You have just been elected mayor. Congratulations! Unfortunately, your citizens have some big demands: they want jobs, an amusement park, a few cheese factories and maybe even a radio tower. Oh dear, that will be a tough job, because right now your city consists of nothing more than a wheat field, a bakery and one die.
Armed with a die and your dream, you have to grow Machi Koro into the largest city in the region. You need to earn income from developments, build public works and steal from your neighbours' treasuries. But make sure they do not do the same to you!
This is a smooth dice game in which players build their own city with building cards. Every player starts the game with two starting buildings and four landmarks. The remaining building cards are laid out as an open supply. On your turn you roll the die (one at first, later two if you wish). The number you roll determines which building is activated. The colour of an activated building determines when and by whom money is paid out. So there are also buildings that become active on your fellow players' turns. With your money you can buy one new building from the supply at the end of your turn, or activate one of your landmarks. Those landmarks are not only good for extra little advantages during the game (including a second die when you activate your train station). The first player to activate their fourth landmark wins the game.
