Kiitos

Kiitos is a fast-paced word game with a surprisingly simple set of rules. Even so, there is plenty of depth. You play a letter and name a word you want to build towards. The next player adds to it, or switches things up and changes the target word. That way something different happens at the table every time, while everyone tries to get rid of the letters in their own hand. The fun lies in the play between you and the other players. Can you finish a word and grab the points? Or do you box in your opponent, so that they have to pick up the unfinished word and take penalty points? If someone finishes your word for you, you say "Kiitos", the Finnish word for thank you. If you doubt a word that someone plays, you may challenge it. And a made-up word? That is allowed, as long as nobody notices. The game switches between two forms: in Kiitos you build words from left to right, in Super-Kiitos you may add letters on both sides. Bluffing, thinking ahead and a bit of luck all run together. The target word can easily change five times or more in a single round. Kiitos is for two to four players and takes about an hour.
