In Kelp: Shark vs Octopus you dive into an underwater battle between two iconic sea creatures: the cunning octopus and the relentless pyjama shark. This asymmetric board game for two players is set in a South African kelp forest and combines deckbuilding, dice strategy and bluffing.
Each animal has a unique play style that fits its real-life counterpart perfectly. The octopus moves in secret, plays cards to hide and uses camouflage to mislead the hunter. The shark, on the other hand, patrols with determination, using dice and special abilities to track down its prey and finish the hunt successfully. It is a game full of tension, where bluffing and clever tactics are the key to victory.
The octopus wins if it eats all four pieces of seafood or manages to survive long enough for the shark to become exhausted. The shark wins by carrying out a successful attack and catching the octopus.
During the game you build a deck and a dice bag, while constantly trying to outsmart each other. The octopus hides cleverly and manipulates the shark, while the shark watches every move closely and makes the most of its chances. Who will play their role best and dominate the kelp forest?
