Picture this: a garden that slowly comes to life under your hands. In Gartenbau you take on the role of a gardener who lets their green fingers do the talking. You sow, you plant and you build your garden layer by layer, and it has to be perfectly balanced before the season ends. Whoever creates the most beautiful and fully grown garden may call themselves Master Gardener. At the heart of the game is a double track on a rondel, combined with three layers of tile laying. You pick flowers, add to your tableau and try to meet the growing conditions of your flowers. If you manage that, you earn prestige points for your work in the garden. At the end everyone counts their points and the player with the most prestige wins. What makes Gartenbau extra special is its look. All the artwork dates from the end of the nineteenth century and comes from old seed and flower catalogues. The game is a tribute to the unknown artists who made these lovely prints back then. A game to daydream over together and to think hard about at the same time.
