Fraudville

Welcome to city hall, where you and your fellow players are elected council members. On paper you are working on the finest projects for the city. In secret you have only one goal: to move as much money as possible from the city treasury into your own pocket. Making money is easy, but anyone who gets too greedy risks a major scandal. And then someone has to take the blame. In turn you propose new projects. Together you invest in them by playing cards face down on the table. Is there enough cash? Then the player with the highest bid takes all the credit. The money that is left over quietly disappears from the treasury and is shared among the investors. Later you use your profits to buy fine possessions that give you prestige, although you pay tax on them every year. Keep a close eye on your cash flow, because anyone who runs short has to sell their belongings for next to nothing or give up prestige in disgrace. You only have four years, so choose your moments with care. The game ends after those four years, or sooner if the treasury is completely empty. If that happens, the corruption scandal breaks and the greediest players are arrested. Fraudville is a game full of bluffing, peeking and going just a little too far, perfect for an evening with three to six people who enjoy a bit of tension.
