Welcome to the heathland of Dartmoor, where bogs, springs and shrubs come together as one living whole. Forest Shuffle Dartmoor is a standalone game in the Forest Shuffle series and takes you to a completely new setting. You build your own piece of nature by placing trees and shrubs and then attracting animals and plants. Whoever creates the most valuable habitat wins. The nice thing about this version are the new terrain cards. You lay these down horizontally and they form a home or a feeding spot for all kinds of species. Think carefully about where you place them, because some species can only go above or below a terrain card. Deer, for example, prefer to stay away from the bog. They like to drink, but they do not feel safe next to a brook or a spring. So every choice matters. Also new are the caves that are handed out at the start, so everyone begins differently. And you can use the back of the 180 cards to lay out a marsh. Playing itself stays wonderfully clear. You have six cards in hand and choose each turn: take two new cards, or play a card by discarding other cards as payment. That way your own little world slowly grows on the table. For two to five players, ages ten and up, and done in about an hour. Perfect for an evening of discovering and building together.
