End of the Trail

Pack your tent, load up your gear and head west. In End of the Trail you play a gold prospector trying his luck during the California gold rush. With a handful of cards you arrange transport, survey plots of land and take a gamble at the poker table. Every card has three ways to use it, and you decide what suits you best at that moment. Digging for gold is exciting work. You peek under a land tile and see how much gold is there. Do you pitch your tent now and claim this spot? Or do you push on and hope for something richer further along? But watch out: if the next tile yields less, your luck has run out and you have to settle for the poorer find. So choose your cards wisely, because you only get a limited number of chances. At the end of each round you set aside two of your played cards for your poker hand. Whoever lays down the strongest hand at the end may claim one last plot of land. After that all hidden values are revealed and you add up your gold. The player with the biggest haul wins. Play with two to four players, or simply on your own against yourself.
