This is the Dutch-language edition. Even dragons start out small. Before they can fly and breathe fire, they need good care. As an experienced magician, that is exactly your job. To do this you use the "magic book", which tells you which dragons and how many of them you can take under your wing. Of course, you have a few tricks up your sleeve to bend the book in your favour. Whoever does this best wins this fantastic contest!
Do you like short games, do you find beautiful artwork important and do you dislike waiting for your turn? Then put this card game on the table. A turn is very simple, and you can do things during other players' turns too, so you are always involved in the game. Because the cards are dealt differently every game, you can never follow fixed tactics and you have to stay flexible. Thanks to its simplicity, Drakenherders is suitable for families with children, but there is enough challenge to keep more experienced players interested as well.
In Drakenherders you try to score points by playing dragons from your hand. On your turn you first draw 1, 2 or 3 cards from the display. This display is constantly refilled with cards from the magic book. That matters, because after drawing cards the backs of the 2 cards of the magic book determine how many and which cards you may play and what you get for them.
When it is your turn, you may change the magic book before playing cards by using one of your hand cards. After playing cards and receiving your bonuses, all other players may also play cards based on the magic book, but they may not change the magic book.
For playing dragons you mainly earn amulet pieces, golden eggs and shields, which give points in different ways. The game ends when a certain number of amulets have been completed. If you have the most points then, you win and you are the best dragon herder!
