Damask

Long ago, weaving techniques and patterns travelled from Damascus along the silk road to the famous textile houses of Venice. There, master weavers made the richest fabrics you can imagine. They became known as damasks and adorned the cabinets and halls of palaces all across Europe for centuries. In Damask you take on the role of such a master weaver and try not only to earn the most money, but also to win the favour of the Weavers' Guild. On your turn you choose: take a damask card and place it in front of you, or take cubes from the spinning wheel. You pick a cube and continue clockwise or counter-clockwise until you come across the second cube of a colour. Everything you gather along the way goes onto your cards or into your supply. Each damask needs three cubes of one colour and two of another to be completed. Mount a damask in your own holder and you earn coins. And the better your damask matches the previous one you mounted, the more you get. If your damask also matches the colour or the pattern of the season, the guild's favour beckons. Those favours are worth their weight in gold: you use them to replace missing cubes, swap cards or avoid taxes. At the end you add everything up, with extra coins if you have all six colours or all four patterns on your mounted damasks. Whoever has the most coins wins. Play it solo or with up to four weavers.
