Chinese Checkers

Do you recognise those colourful star-shaped boards? Chinese Checkers is the kind of classic you have probably seen somewhere. It is a game that has been coming out on the table for generations, and for good reason. You can explain the rules in a couple of minutes, but the fun lasts much longer. The idea is wonderfully simple. Everyone starts in their own point of the star with a group of pegs. The first player to get all their pegs to the opposite side wins. You move them step by step, but the real fun starts when you begin to jump. Over your own pegs, over other players' pegs, hop hop hop to the other side. With a bit of luck and the right route, you can shoot right across the board. With two to six players there is always room for a game. Children from seven years old pick it up quickly, and that is exactly why it is so much fun to play together. Young and old at one table, equal chances for everyone, and after half an hour you know who found the cleverest route that day.
