Caverna

Deep in the mountains lives a small dwarf folk, and that folk is you. In Caverna you lead a family that starts with two brave dwarves. In front of your cave lies a dense forest that needs attention, and behind your walls the mountain waits, full of secrets. Each round you send your family members out: one goes chopping and sowing, the other digs ever deeper into the rock. Bit by bit you build a home that is all your own. What you do with the mountain is up to you. You can mine ore and forge weapons from it, then set out on expeditions and bring extra goods back home. While digging you sometimes strike water, veins of ore or even glittering rubies. In front of your cave you prepare fields, fence off pastures for your animals, and your family slowly grows along with everything you build. Dogs and donkeys are part of it too. Do you prefer to play alone? There is a solo variant that lets you calmly get to know the 48 different furnishing tiles for your cave. Caverna is a classic by Uwe Rosenberg in which planning, choosing and building all come together. In the end, the winner is whoever has expanded their farm most cleverly, but the road there is just as much fun.
