Publisher: The Gamers
Step back to April 1862, to one of the bloodiest days of the American Civil War. In April's Harvest: The Battle of Shiloh, April 6 & 7, 1862 you take command of the Southern or Northern armies and relive the Battle of Shiloh, down to the smallest details. The South gathers its troops under the charismatic Albert Sidney Johnston for a surprise attack. On the other side stands the army of the North's new war hero: Ulysses S. Grant. This is the ninth game in The Gamers' Civil War Brigade series. You play out the whole battle, from the first charge through the camps of the caught-off-guard Northern army to Grant's final counterattack, after the much-needed reinforcements finally arrive. Special moments from the fighting come to life, such as the struggle at the Hornet's Nest, the uncertain arrival of Buell's army and the Northern gunboats. Want to know how things could have gone differently? With the many options you can play various scenarios, for example if Grant had not been surprised. This is a game for the enthusiast who loves depth and wants to take their time. You can play it against an opponent, or completely on your own, because the solo mode works excellently. Expect long, absorbing evenings at the table where every decision counts. For anyone who wants to feel history instead of just reading about it, this is a real recommendation.
