It is the late 26th century and Earth is trying to recover. Centuries ago, a huge explosion wiped out almost the entire population. Large parts of the world are now uninhabitable because of bizarre weather. The people who survived split into four groups with completely different ideals: Harmony, Dominance, Progress and Salvation. They live in a fragile peace, but almost entirely separated from each other. Their only shared place is the last great city on Earth, simply called the Capital. After the disaster, mysterious time rifts appeared. By supplying those rifts with energy, each group can travel back to moments from its own past. That speeds up your progress enormously, but meddling with time too much puts the whole balance at risk. And there is no time to lose, because a new disaster is coming. An asteroid carrying the mysterious substance Neutronium is heading for Earth. Stranger still: its energy looks exactly like that of the explosion centuries ago. Anachrony uses a special system in which you place workers in two layers. To travel to the Capital or collect resources from ruined areas, you need not only specialists such as engineers and scientists, but also Exosuits to protect them. Both are scarce, so you have to choose carefully. The game lasts four to seven turns, depending on when the disaster strikes. Each group has its own goal that scores a lot of points if achieved. Whoever collects the most points leads their faction to the top and with that becomes the most important power on the planet.
