It is 1917. In Russia, Tsar Nicholas II has stepped down from the throne and the country is sliding into chaos. On the edge of the huge empire, a power vacuum opens up in Finland. For many Finns, the unrest feels like the moment to dream of independence. But the parties cannot agree. In January 1918 a bloody civil war breaks out. All Bridges Burning: Red Revolt and White Guard in Finland, 1917-1918 brings that tense period to life. This game for one to three players lets you lead one of the sides. The Reds want to start a workers' uprising and hold on to their gains. The White Senate wants to take power back with an army full of cannons, armoured trains and the famous 27th J u00e4ger Battalion. And then there are the moderate social democrats, who fight for reform without violence and spread information across the fronts. All three sides have their own tasks, options and challenges. That makes every role different to play. The tension also comes from the outside world. Germany and Russia offer help to the parties, but too much interference from abroad can crush the dream of a free Finland. Then all three players lose together. Thanks to a card-driven system, All Bridges Burning: Red Revolt and White Guard in Finland, 1917-1918 also plays very well solo or with two. A solid evening of history and strategy at the table.
