Rome, 44 BC. Julius Caesar has won the civil war and now holds enormous power. Some worship him, others fear him. And out of that fear a conspiracy grows. On the Ides of March it all comes together: 23 wounds, a republic in ruins and the birth of an empire. In 23 Knives you stand right in the middle of that tense moment. You play a Roman citizen with a secret role. Perhaps you are loyal to Caesar and want to protect him. Perhaps you want to get rid of him to set Rome free. Or you are an opportunist who waits and strikes at the very last moment. You travel through the city, talk with other citizens and try to win them over to your plan. At the end everything is revealed. If there are 23 knives or more in the Curia, Caesar is dead and the fiercest opponent wins. If there are fewer, the most loyal protector wins. And those who waited? They seize their chance at exactly the right time and win together. With 3 to 8 players, every game is a battle full of bluffing, secret plans and surprising twists.
