In 1880 China you step into the shoes of a railway baron in the Far East. Together you build the history of the Chinese railways, with trains thundering across the whole country and networks that keep on growing. This game is loosely based on 1829 by Francis Tresham and tries to replay real historical events as faithfully as possible. An evening full of strategy, money and patience. As a true captain of the rails you buy and sell shares in historic Chinese railway companies. You lay track, expand your network and run your trains. If the companies do well, your shares rise in value and your chance of winning grows. At the end, the player with the greatest fortune in cash and shares combined wins. Expect hours of planning and negotiating, because this is a real marathon. What makes 1880 China special is the turn order of the companies. It does not shift along with the share prices, but is fixed from the moment a player opens a company. The alternation between stock rounds and operating rounds is cleverly done too, and you control it yourself. A game for the true enthusiast who loves a long, deep challenge.
